The Yard Post · Creator guide

How the money actually works in the yard.

No mystery formula, no secret eligibility. One pot, shared by watch time, published monthly. Here is the whole system, including the honest parts other platforms leave out.

Most platforms treat creator pay like a state secret. The rate changes without notice, the rules live in a help centre nobody can find, and you qualify for money only after you have already made the platform plenty of it. We built RockYard's earning system as the opposite of that, and this page explains it plainly.

One pot, shared by watch time

Advertising and subscription money goes into one pot each month. 70% of that pot goes to creators, shared out by watch time — the minutes people actually spent watching your reels, streams, videos and replays. Around 18% covers streaming and storage (video is heavy, and somebody has to carry it), and 12% keeps Little Rock's lights on.

We publish the size of the pot every month, so anybody with a calculator can check their own share. That is not a marketing flourish; it is the whole idea. A pot you cannot see is a pot you cannot trust.

You earn from day one

There is no creator programme to apply to, no thousand-follower gate, no waiting period. Your page earns from its first qualifying view. The follower thresholds on other platforms exist to keep new creators working free; we would rather pay small amounts honestly from the start than large amounts to a lucky few after a year of unpaid labour.

Tips are yours, on top

When somebody watching your live stream tips you, that money is not shared out of the pot — it goes to you. Tips are how the diaspora says thank you in hard currency: a viewer in Queens or Toronto can support the person cooking in Berbice directly. Payouts come monthly — Guyanese dollars at home, US dollars abroad.

The honest part

Now the paragraph other platforms never write. The illustrative rate on our front page — around G$1.20 per qualifying view — is exactly that: an illustration. The real number moves with the size of the pot, which moves with how much advertising and subscription money came in that month. A small platform has a small pot. Early creators on RockYard should expect modest amounts first, growing as the yard grows.

Why join early, then? Because watch time is shared out of the same pot whether a thousand people are posting or fifty. Early creators face less competition for the same share-out, build their pages while handles are still free, and are first in line when the Featured rung — front page, simulcast on the 88.5 stream — starts pushing creators to the audience Little Rock already has on radio and television.
