There is a reason a Guyanese yard works without a gate lock. It isn't innocence. It's that a yard is never empty: somebody is always home, the neighbour sees over the paling, the dog knows who belongs. Community is its own security system. When we built RockYard we tried to carry that principle onto the platform — open at the gate, watched from the house.
What the open gate means
You do not need ID, documents or an approval queue to create a profile and start posting. We hold that line because permission systems always end up filtering out the wrong people — the elderly, the rural, the ones without paperwork in the right drawer — while the determined bad actor sails through. So the gate stays open. What we guard is not the entrance. It is the behaviour inside.
What gets removed, plainly
We are a Guyanese platform and we moderate like a Guyanese household: slow to take offence at noise, fast to act on harm. Coming out of the yard, without argument:
- Scams and fraud — fake fundraisers, false selling, anything designed to take money under a lie. This is the one that hurts our community most, at home and abroad.
- Impersonation — posting as a person, business, church or public body you are not.
- Harassment and threats — a heated gyaff is culture; a campaign against a person is not.
- Content that endangers children — zero tolerance, immediate removal, and cooperation with the authorities.
- Stolen work — reposting another creator's videos as your own. The pot pays for watch time; stealing watch time is stealing money from a neighbour.
The blue check is the impersonation defence
Most people never need verification, and it is not for sale. But when a politician speaks, when a ministry posts a notice, when a business takes money — people have a right to know it's really them. The check is granted on evidence, free, reviewed yearly, and removed if a page changes hands or starts posting as somebody else. If you ever see a checked page behaving strangely, report it: the check makes our standards higher for that page, not lower.
How to report, and what happens next
Every profile and post can be reported in the app, and reports go to people — Berbice people, who understand the difference between picong and persecution. You can also reach us directly on WhatsApp or by email at 88.5rockfm@gmail.com. We would rather get ten reports about nothing than miss the one that mattered.
What we promise in return: we look at what was actually said and done, not at who has more followers. We remove content, warn, and — for the behaviours listed above — remove pages. And because this platform belongs to a media house with a name it spent forty years building in Berbice, we cannot afford to run a careless yard. Our family name is on the gate. Literally.
